What Happens on Graduation Day
One of the most important parts of graduation day is the walk across the stage. Whether this is done before the ceremony or at some point after, this single moment unlocks the full meaning of the event. The walk crosses the boundary from student to adult, and it is an amazing feeling. It is a time to look back on all the hard work and successes that have led up to this point, and to look ahead at what comes next.
Graduation is a big step for any graduate, but it’s an especially important milestone for their family and friends. Those who have been supporting them through their studies, cheering them on at late night study sessions or wishing them luck on their job search will want to be there to see it all come to fruition.
Usually, the gowning area for graduates opens a few hours before the ceremony is due to start and allows graduands to have their photos taken in their cap and gown before they head over to their seats for the commencement. Depending on the ceremony, this might also be the time to hand in any final assignments or have any problems with their degree certificates resolved.
Providing a dinner for the graduate, their family and close friends to celebrate the occasion is an excellent idea. This doesn’t have to be anything fancy; even a simple meal at their favorite restaurant can be an amazing way to celebrate the day and honour the efforts of the graduate. Another option is to treat the graduate to a memorable trip, from a weekend away with their best friends to jetting off to a destination that they have always wanted to visit.
