Community Hero of the Month for 2024

Across the country, there are thousands of individuals who make a difference in their neighborhoods. Their stories reflect the collective heartbeat of a community that thrives on connection and the joy of giving back.

Whether it’s the first responders who drive the fire truck at your Little League Opening Ceremonies, the dedicated teacher who spends hours in your concession stand each summer or the local volunteer who helps feed the homeless – these individuals are your community heroes. They are a vital part of your neighborhood and your Little League family and we are proud to honor them each month.

Our community hero of the month for 2024 is Tanner Mansell! In addition to his day-to-day role at the Charleston Battery, Tanner also serves on MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital’s Philanthropy Committee and is actively involved in the community by coaching youth soccer and serving as a mentor to area kids. The Mansell family also established the Goals for Gardens initiative with the Battery earlier this year to combat food insecurity in the Lowcountry through community garden projects.

If you are an individual who works in healthcare, education, law enforcement, the U.S. military, or fire and rescue, you may qualify for our Community Hero Mortgage Program. This program provides a lower down payment and reduced monthly mortgage insurance for qualifying heroes.
